Bill Hollenbeck

Head Football Coach

Bill is a graduate of nearby Frankfort High School. Following graduation he enlisted and served four years in Air Force Intelligence. Following his discharge he attended Central Michigan University and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. He soon followed that with a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Administration. In 1983 Bill was hired by Glen Lake as the Head Football Coach. His tenure presented the school with many conference and regional championships. In 1994 the Lakers won a State Championship and in 1996 his team returned with the State Runner-Up Trophy. With a record of 144-50 and 19 years at the helm, Coach Hollenbeck decided to resign and pursue other interests following the 2001 season. However, when the football coaching position became available for 2005 he decided to return and see if he could help the team get back on a winning track. He was recently quoted as saying, "I guess I just missed the kids and the Friday night lights". Bill is married to Glen Lake Elementary teacher Cynthia. Daughter Lisa is married and living in Traverse City, and son Tom lives in Marquette, Michigan.

Jerry Angers

Varsity Assistant

Jerry is in his 12th year teaching in the T.C.A.P.S. system in the math department. Prior to working in Traverse City, he was a member of the Waterford School District. He earned his degree at Ferris State University in Math Ed. with a minor in P.E. He holds a Master Degree in Administration from Central Michigan University.  Jerry  has coached varsity football for 15 years. Before he started teaching, he worked at the Ford Motor Company's Wixom Assembly in Quality Control.  He enjoys hunting and fishing. Jerry and his wife Kathy have been married 21 years and have two children, 13 year old Megan and 10 year old Duke, who are both students in the Glen Lake Schools system. During the summer Jerry keeps himself busy with his lake service business. 

Geoff Miller

Varsity Assistant

 
Geoff is a graduate of Frankfort High School, where he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. After graduation, Geoff headed to Ferris State University where he lettered in football as a receiver. He graduated from FSU with a bachelor's degree in Public Administration. Currently he is employed with Grand Traverse County in Central Dispatch. Geoff is assisting the varsity working with defensive backs and receivers. His girlfriend Kirsten Sadler is a Glen Lake Alum.

Dan Hobbins

Varsity Assistant, Trainer

Dan graduated from Glen Lake and attended Northwestern Michigan College and Central Michigan University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. Dan is currently a teacher in the Glen Lake Elementary School and is very active as a volunteer with many school programs. He has offered his services to the football program as a coach and athletic trainer and helps with many administrative duties.

Gary Galla

Junior Varsity Head Coach

Gary graduated from Glen Lake and immediately entered private business. He has been deeply involved with local athletics and for the last 12 years has served the district in the spring as JV Baseball Coach and later taking over the helm of the Softball Team. He has seen much success at both of these levels. Gary enthusiastically oversees the Junior Varsity team and is excited to be contributing to the revitalization of the football program. He is married to Trudy and has four children, Tesha, Shannon, Taylor and Sean.

Pete Walters

Junior Varsity Defensive Coordinator

Pete was a two-way starter on the 1994 State Championship Team, as well as the 1995 Conference Champion team that ended its undefeated regular season with a loss in the Semi-Finals.  After graduating from Glen Lake he attended Ferris State where he earned a Bachelors degree in Social Work.  Pete currently works with the 13th Circuit Court in Traverse City.  Pete has seen great success over the past few years as the Middle School Head Coach and hopes to bring his experience and enthusiasm to the Junior Varsity program in the fall of 2008 as the Defensive Coach.  Pete and his wife Karri spend their time away from football chasing around their 3 year old son Ethan.

Mike DePuy

Junior Varsity Assistant, Booster Club

Mike was a member of the 1994 State Championship Team and also played on the 1995 team that ended its undefeated regular season with a loss in the Semi-Finals. Following his graduation from Glen Lake he attended and graduated from Hope College with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work. Presently, Mike works for a local business and also serves as the Youth Director at the Glen Lake Reformed Church. He is excited to work with our local young men and contribute to the goals and initiatives of the football program. Mike and his wife Mandy have two children, Emma and Sophie.

Gerald Brengman

8th Grade Assistant

Gerald is a graduate of Servite High School, a Class A school in Detroit. He played football on Servite's State Championship team, and also played baseball and ran track. His brother coached football at Ferris State and Grosse Pointe North and Gerald is following is his footsteps. Entering business after high school, he moved to northern Michigan in 2002, where he owns and operates an Alpaca farm and manages Crain Hill Vineyard. He is married to Marsha and they have two children in the Glen Lake system: Hunter is a freshman and Scotlyn is in 8th grade. Both children are very involved in athletics. Gerald has coached Pop Warner football and was the defensive coordinator for Glen Lake's 7th grade football team. His other coaching experience includes the Maple City girls softball team for three years (all won the state championship), as well as grade school girls basketball at Glen Lake. He enjoys anything outdoors including hunting, fishing, and camping.

Tim Gillen

Varsity Assistant, Media

Tim is a 1975 graduate of Glen Lake High School, where he lettered in Varsity football for 3 years. His coaching experience includes a stint as Junior Varsity Defensive Coordinator for Glen Lake in the early 1980s, as well as coaching Pop Warner football when his own boys were in that program. He also lettered in ski racing at Glen Lake, and later coached high school ski racing. Tim and his wife Sue live in Traverse City, where they have owned a computer business for many years. They have three children, all in their mid twenties. Tim is active in the Traverse City Kiwanis Club and the Traverse Area Keryx Prison Ministry.
